The Tameside Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group is dedicated to providing support and resources for those affected by pulmonary fibrosis. We aim to create a welcoming community where individuals can share experiences and find comfort in one another.

Tameside Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group was founded in April 2018 by Clive and Sue Green.
Clive had been diagnosed with PF in 2009, but showed no symptoms until 2017. On finding out that there was only one Support Group, which was at Wythenshawe Hospital, he decided we needed one in Tameside.
Clive had been a Firefighter in Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service for 30 years so where else could we launch in April 2018, but at Ashton under Lyne Community Fire Station.

With several hundred members both nationally and internationally, TPFSG is testament to the hard work and determination of Clive and Sue, and the team of Volunteers.
Sadly, Clive passed away in March 2025, but his legacy lives on in this Support Group!

A RECENT TPFSG MEETING AT THE 4C CENTRE
You can expect a warm welcome when you come along to one of our meetings. We sometimes invite a Speaker to come along to talk to our members, but sometimes members prefer to just chat to each other.
Come and have a chat with others who understand. As well as talking about living with PF, we like to have fun too, because as our Group Founder used to say,
"laughter is the best medicine."
A RECENT ZOOM MEETING ONLINE
At our monthly Zoom meetings we invite a Speaker to come along and talk to our members.
Speakers can be from, or closely associated with, the medical profession, but we sometimes have people from organisations like the Dogs Trust, Mountain Rescue Team, Scambusters GMP to name a few.

We attend events to raise awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis, and how devastating a diagnosis is.
We talk about our Support Group and the benefits of talking to others who understand.

We are all Volunteers at TPFSG, including our Committee Members who run the group.
We not only make sure our members are well looked after at our meetings, we fundraise, we attend events to raise awareness, plus we do much much more.

We raise money through grants, funding opportunities, raffles at the group meetings, and donations.
If you would like to offer funding or make a donation to our Support Group, please contact us.
In Feb 2019 we launched the “Around the world with TPFSG” fun challenge, to raise awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis.
We asked everyone to take an A5 sized poster when going on a day trip or on holiday, and have a photo taken with the poster (as daft or as serious as you like). A landmark, or with someone famous, or anything of interest. (In a plane's cockpit? Or the bridge of a cruise ship).
It's a fun thing. So far it's been a great success with pics done with local Statues, also photos from Majorca, Tunisia, Paris, Saint Helena, Luxembourg, Canada, Berlin, Dubai, Venice, USA, Kenya, Ecuador, China, Zambia, Vietnam, and Japan, plus many more.
We even have a boarding pass from a trip around the moon in 2023.
If you would like to join in and would like a laminated anti-glare poster, contact us and we can post one to you, or if it's easier, copy, download, print it, or just hold your phone up with our poster on and get someone to take your photo.
Then WhatsApp the photos to the number on the poster or email them. Let us know who and where you are & we can keep you updated along the way.

At Tameside Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group, we strive to create a welcoming community that promotes diversity, inclusivity, and respect for all. Our mission is to provide a space where members can connect, learn, and grow together.

Founded in 2018, Tameside Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group began as a small group of like-minded individuals who wanted to make a positive impact in their community. Since then, we have grown into a thriving organization with over 500 members.

We offer a variety of activities and events for our members, including volunteer opportunities. Our goal is to provide something for everyone and create a sense of belonging for all.
